| The Nomads formed in the flak-filled skies of
Air Warrior in 1996. It originally began as a "shades"
squadron, a chance for the invited P-38
fliers to assume a secret identity for a night. Founded
by +mir, the goal was simple: recruit the best Lightning pilots
in the arena change teams as needed to help the country
with the fewest people on any given night. The secretive group
gained popularity and respect through their attitudes and
flying. |

The group found themselves flying more often in their
Nomads guise than their normal CPIDs and decided to form
a full-time squadron. The goal remained the same, however,
and with nightly C-47 parachute drops, multitudes of augering,
and very little in the way of seriousness, the Nomads soon
became one of the most entertaining and well-known groups
in AW. Theme Nights got to be popular, with each Nomad taking
a name approriate to the theme. Star Wars was always popular,
with +Han and Leia's Bikini ^Nomads^ buzzing around all
night in Yak's.

The group's antics weren't limited
to the flying arenas though, and they filled AW's message
boards with stories
and songs. The Nomads
even had several lengthy audio programs, "ID21"
and "MadTalk". Thousands of silly tag
lines later, the message boards and AW areans were finally
shut down in 2001. |
